MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT - SYLVANA CATALANO

Our valued ACMP Members, Community Partners, and Colleagues,

Over the past several years, we have navigated and endured uncharted realms of change. Through it came an opportunity to rethink and reimagine the impossible, strengthen our mindset to embrace a new way of working, and discover new ways to connect with our professional and personal communities. This ability to leverage and scale our Change Management principles allowed us to manage our professional and personal activities with resilience and grace. With strong collaboration and courage, we have transitioned from an in-person to a virtual culture while triggering a reset on how we communicate and engage as Change Practitioners, with our members across the province and globally.

As we transition from one year to the next, we’re thrilled to embark on a new journey of growth for the ACMP Ontario Chapter. As your new ACMP Ontario Board President, it gives me great pleasure to accept this role from my predecessor, Koya. Let me first express my sincere gratitude to Koya and the outgoing Board of Directors who established the ACMP Ontario Chapter and many helpful resources for our community members to draw on. Their courageous and committed efforts helped set a strong foundation. Now, it’s time to expand and scale our offerings, grow our community of change practitioners, and drive impactful value to our members and partners.

In keeping with the ACMP Global mission to Help lead the way change works by building a thriving change community, I look forward to working with our new Board to build on our predecessors’ momentum and continue delivering value for our members and grow a thriving change management practitioner community. This includes continuing to build on the activities established by our outgoing board:

As a Board, we will continue to identify new opportunities to strengthen ACMP-Ontario, offer innovative and relevant services to our members, and advance strategic priorities to build a more engaged community.

Your membership, Your Voice!

Whether you are an independent consultant, employee change manager, or corporate member, we are eager to hear your ideas and thoughts on how to drive continuous improvement within the chapter. With an open mind, we are excited to enhance our change journey and adopt activities that are meaningful to our members. We welcome all ideas, so I encourage you to connect with us at communications@acmpontario.org.

What’s Next?

We are currently completing a series of strategic alignment workshops to align our new Board on the 2022-2023 Strategic Plan. We look forward to sharing our Strategy with you early in the New Year and engaging in many supporting activities.

In the meantime, one area of focus that we are continuing to invest our efforts in is the Career page – a pilot initiative whose success has paved the way to becoming a permanent resource for our members and non-members alike.  This is a place where employers can post jobs and/or contract openings, and where job seekers can find regularly updated change management opportunities.   Stay tuned as we turn our pilot into a stable feature and share job postings!

As always, ACMP members can discover an exciting new career or post a job opening at the ACMP Global Career Center! You can search hundreds of jobs, create or access an account, and post openings.   Click on a job title and create change in your career today! Don't forget to post your resume and take advantage of this FREE service.

Our professional development and events offerings include insights from thought leaders and a monthly series covering the ACMP Standard Review.

And lastly, our Board's year-end message shares our collective thanks for your continued engagement and invites you to share our resources with others in your circle who you feel could benefit from being a part of our change practitioner community.

Thank you for your commitment, contributions and ongoing support.

Save the Dates: Plan your 2023 ACMP Global Change Management Learning Events Now!

Reimagining Customer Experience, March 2-4, 2023

Several in-person events are being delivered in 2023. The first such opportunity is a unique event, CHG MGMT Summit: Charlotte 2023, “Reimagining Customer Experience,” March 2-4, 2023. This new, limited seating Summit event will be smaller than previous conferences and focused on a single topic, to give us the opportunity to dive deeper into some competencies that help round out our practice of change. This opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with thought leaders and decision makers from both Customer Experience (CX) and Change Management (CM) is a “must” if you care about delivering the optimal experience for your customers and earning their loyalty in return. I hope you’ll register now and take advantage of this unique gathering.

CHG MGMT: Global Connect 2023

ACMP’s premier global CM virtual conference is taking place May 9-12, 2023. Folks tell us that CHG MGMT: Global Connect is the CM event that they look forward to each year, and we can’t wait for another jam-packed educational experience.

Go-to Change Management Resource: Gartner Change Management Research and Knowledge Articles

Where do you work and what is your role there?

I am currently the Manager of Culture Programs on the Change and Culture Team at Hydro One. My role is to oversee, manage, and continuously improve the programs that fall under the Culture portfolio.  The programming in this portfolio reaches all employees – continuously learning about and understanding the experience of the employee is absolutely core to the role.

What is your role with the ACMP Ontario Chapter?

I am Lead, Digital Content Management and Strategy on the Digital Communication Committee. I also provide strategic advice on initiatives and campaigns we are supporting.

How long have you been with ACMP?

I have been with the ACMP for a little over 1 year now.  It has been a great experience where I have been able to connect with extremely engaging and passionate change management professionals and been involved with exciting campaigns.  Our small but mighty team is highly capable, and we have fun when we’re getting the job done!

Why do you volunteer your time with ACMP?

I volunteer with the ACMP to make an impact in a team environment in an area of passion and importance. Change management has never been more critical in the rate and way in which work is changing.

Best advice you’ve received regarding change management?

Desire for change is one of the most critical components of receiving buy-in and ultimately, adoption.

What are your hobbies/activities outside of work?

I chair a not-for-profit organization based in Ottawa that provides wheelchair hockey programming for folks with disabilities. It is a passion of mine to lead and provide this programming to the community, as they do not have alternatives for social and recreational activities like many others do.  During my down-time, I enjoy watching classic cinema and experiencing Toronto.
